An alkaline-cyanide reagent masks common metal interferences such as:
• Iron • Copper • Other transition metals
This improves accuracy in complex water matrices including wastewater and industrial samples.
Sensitive PAN Colorimetric Method
The PAN method provides highly sensitive manganese detection by forming a stable, orange-colored complex proportional to manganese concentration. Benefits include:
• Excellent low-level sensitivity • Strong color development for reliable photometric measurement • Rapid reaction time for faster results Please note: Digestion is necessary for total manganese determinations in some sample matrices.
How the PAN Method Works
The PAN method uses 1-(2-Pyridylazo)-2-Naphthol to detect manganese in water samples.
Test Process: 1. All manganese is reduced to soluble Mn²⁺ 2. Interfering metals are masked using an alkaline-cyanide reagent 3. PAN reacts with manganese to form an orange-colored complex 4.The sample is measured photometrically at 560 nm 5. Color intensity is proportional to manganese concentration This method provides accurate low-range manganese analysis with excellent repeatability.
Please note: Digestion is necessary for total manganese determinations in some sample matrices.
